Varun Chowdhury is the screenwriter, director & editor of the film 'Avichi'. He grew up in a small town called Hisar in Haryana, India. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 21 and started working as an editor for commercials. An opportunity to learn cinematography and train under Mr. Rafey Mahmood brought him back to India.
The reason he took up cinematography was to understand the intricate details about lighting, lenses & framing. He firmly believes that the only thing between a director's vision and the audience is the camera and each decision made about framing and lensing makes all the difference in communicating with the audience.
While he was studying cinematography, he started directing short films. His first short film 'Entrapped' bagged him the official selection for Royal Stag Mega Movie's 'The Large Short Films' where he was one of the directors handpicked by the likes of Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Mishra and Chakri Toleti for India's first collaborative film - 'The Last Act'.
Avichi is his debut feature film.
